Netzero's owner sells flowers
to boost earnings
United Online is best known for its dialup ISP services,
including NetZero and Juno, but that's dying out because of the
moving to broadband. In August 2008 they completed an
acquisition of FTD, the seller of flowers. The company said in
its earnings report that net income rose 16% to $16.2 million,
or 21 cents a share, and revenue rose 33% to $169.2 million.
Without it, United Online's revenue would have fallen 5%
year-over-year.

wonks.
