My cable modem ISP was down for a week, and NetZero saved my butt. I invest online, I bank online, my wife does some work from home in the evenings, etc. What the heck was I going to do without Internet service? A friend offered me the use of her connection to download NetZero. I installed it and was back online in a few minutes, although not so fast like with cable modem. During 8 days of outage, I never got a single busy signal and I never had a dropped connection. The truth is, I am completely jaded by the cable modem, and suffering along at dial-up speeds really hurt, but NetZero is a great choice for dial-up service. I'd definitely switch if I were still using AOL.
